For many students in the Americas, international education and language exchange is not something that is prioritized, modeled, or possible.
While building empathy and connection with our neighbors throughout the Americas is a critical tool to making our world a more tolerant place, there is a lack of equity in international education and intercultural exchange and barriers
for many students and their families.
Many students feel:
intimidated
Without models or others who have participated in international exchange, it can be an intimidating idea to step outside of your culture and comfort zone.
financially strapped
With many competing financial priorities for families, financial barriers are one of the main reasons students do not have access to international education.
overwhelmed
International exchange and travel can be overwhelming without guidance. There are many logistical steps that can be prohibitive without education and know-how.
We know that many language teachers want to support their students in overcoming these barriers, as they see the value of international education and language exchange.
We equip teachers with resources to bridge the gaps, bringing the world to their students, and increasing access to international education in classrooms everywhere.
We work to build resources and solutions so your students feel:
Supported
Students respond to role models. Modeling intercultural exchange, building connections with students from another country, and using language skills in real life, helps students feel connected, motivated, and interested.
resourceful
Students and families are resilient and resourceful. Building connections and confidence in financial planning, budgeting, and accessing resources like scholarships can help students overcome some financial barriers.
knowledgeable
Students are naturally curious. Educating students on international travel and language exchange and what the process entails encourages continued curiosity, builds knowledge, eases anxiety and fears, and opens up future possibilities.
